Suicide Hotline Manager

I supervise and train telephone operators for a suicide hotline. In addition to answering phones myself, I am also available when questions about protocol come up or if a phone operator is having trouble dealing with the emotions being expressed by a caller. Like many non-profits, we are now in danger of being shut down because of budget cuts.

Hi, I just applied to a few Suicide Hotlines and a few are in a different state than me, but I noticed some have volunteers from all different states. Does being in a different one hinder my application?

If the hotline is anonymous and the caller gives their name, do you just refuse to acknowledge that or if they give their name, then you're free to use it in the conversation?

Do you trace calls? I want to call one but I don't want the cops at my door. I feel pretty suicidal most of the time but don't intend to kill myself in the immediate future.
