I am a U. S. Customs and Border Protection Officer on the southwest border between Mexico and the United States. I know the ins and outs of the job as seen on TV/News and things intentionally hidden from the media! There's more to this job than "Anything to declare?" I dont know all but I'll do my best to answer any questions you have! All answers are my opinion, and my opinion only!

CBP officer at an US airport asked me what an expatriate is and another CBP officer asked where Jakarta is and where Indonesia was. Were they testing / inspecting me or are they just ignorant? which seem unlikely to me with the training they got.

Hey,

What is the current policy (2018) on facial hair? I've read in articles that facial hair is allowed under 1-inch.

Is this accurate?

Thanks in advance!

I just got my tentative offer for GS9 at the Douglas AZ Border POE. I use Rosetta Stone for Spanish and am in the process of buying the Lexis Nexis Immigrations Law Handbook on Amazon. Any suggestions for Phys Training or anything I might be missing?

Hello, recently I got out of the military "navy" and I have a interview coming up for CBP officer. However, I am thinking about joining back the military and stuck between the two. I'm not sure what life is like in CBP or which is better. Thoughts?
